I love Nolan, as I'm life-long fan of cinematography but I don't really understand the love for Interstellar. As someone with a science background, there are just too many things in the movie that break my immersion, or suspension of disbelief, and it's seen by many as a hard sci-fi movie, which I strongly disagree with. Yes, the black hole looks like physicists believe they might look, and the wormhole and time dilation effects of Gargantua make sense, but the little ship landing and taking off is complete nonsense. Where's the fuel? This tiny ship can't possibly make it to orbit. The fact that NASA or whoever they are "just happened" to have a secret space facility within driving distance is utterly ludicrous and convenient. Don't even get me started on the "5th Dimension is Love". It's a good, heart-breaking story emotionally, but tbh it's a bit silly.

Nothing justifies war.

More and more used to see fake pictures, people are not shocked anymore with poor CGI. DNEG Vfx company made poor work on this film.

We just had another 70mm film casualty :( #Cosmonova (IMAX Dome) in Stockholm at Museum of Natural History, just went digital. Saw it at their homepage after they renovated the musem. Havent been there yet. Probably a lot cheaper to run, but still a bit sad

Small correction: this camera along with the 4k only has two analog iso, not two different systems. Within those two isos, each stop is like increasing and decreasing exposure in post meaning it's fully digital and away from the analog domain of the sensor. That's why you can change the iso in post but not go from iso 1600 to iso 100. They're two different analog isos which aren't possible to change in post. Old canons had multiple analog isos but that severely limited the dynamic range above a certain iso.

Amie should receive awards for her work in this movie. She danced, acted and did her own stunts, at that age! She did it consistently and professionally, with a smile on her face when her work was completed. Look at all the adult actors who are so damned difficult to work with and have huge egos. They want to do things their own way, often don't show up for work on time, lose their temper and sometimes walk off the set. Kudos to Amie!

The lenses part is relatively simple, IMAX is roughly the size of 120 film and there are already plenty of lenses that cover that image circle very well. Not to mention that large format film photography has been around for 100 years and there is likely a lens design there you can modernize to make into a cinema lens. The sensor is likely the bottleneck currently.

It was a decent movie with really nice production design that recreated the era very well but I could tell it was still shot and graded digitally 😄

Honestly, it kind-of makes sense to use a digital camera for this kind of effect. Today's film stocks are different from those popular in the 1970s. They would have had to mess with the modern film digitally to get the '70s look anyway, so why take that extra step?

Today to entice audience into theatre’s lot if programs have to be devised, at least most of western Nations other large population Nations not yet fully online life still have theatre viability but they can use same programs and yes there are changes which can be done and audience brought back at least a try is must in todays entire online life
